Aplington Sale Barn owner looks towards spring opening

Central Iowa Exchange owner Letrisha Wise says she can’t help but get excited when she looks at the new sale barn, which is still under construction, but edging towards a spring completion date.

“It seems like [the rebuilding process has] taken forever, when in reality it’s only been five months,” Wise said. “But when I look at the new building, I feel so much better about my decision to rebuild. I can see the future of it, and it makes me really excited.”

After the barn burned down in August, Wise said it was never really an option not to rebuild.

“I knew I was going to rebuild,” she said. “I do this for me, for my love of horse sales, and I do it for my customers, too. I’ve gotten so much emotional support and positivity from everyone during the whole process.”

The new barn will contain many of the same features that made the old barn a valuable asset to the community, as well as some exciting, new improvements. Among those improvements is a 75 by 100 foot indoor riding arena – the only one in the state, Wise said.
