Aplington officials discuss electricity use, efficiency options

The Aplington City Council on Wednesday continued to explore options to reduce electrical usage and manage costs.

Among a list of options and suggestions presented, utility clerk Jodi Birch highlighted that the city’s electrical expenditure is not expensed to the appropriate city departments.

She said the electric revenues and expenditures would reflect a more accurate report if the usage from the water treatment plant, the wastewater facility, the public library, City Hall and the water tower are budgeted to the respective departments.
