Cool, dry conditions may delay harvest

A cool August may have delayed corn harvest for up to two weeks, an area agronomist said.

Terry Basol, Iowa State University Extension field agronomist who services Butler County, said an abnormally cool August delayed the corn harvest as much as 14 days.

“We have a lot to get done before we can run combines,” he said.

Basol estimated that the corn harvest may start the last two weeks in October or into November. He added the harvest could get pushed further into November if the cool, dry conditions continue.
