Everts signs with St. Ambrose hoops

PARKERSBURG – Avari Everts figured she would have played soccer in college until she got to high school.

That's where Aplington-Parkersburg girls basketball head coach Jason Berkey got Everts to embrace the game of basketball.

"He made the sport fun," Everts said.

She saw that same fun feeling reflected on the campus of St. Ambrose University in Davenport, and on Friday she made her decision to join the Fighting Bees' women's basketball team official.

"It's not super small, or super big, and it's got a home-ly feeling," Everts said. "Coach Krista (Van Hauen, St. Ambrose's head coach) was super helpful in the process, and that meant a lot for me because I want a coach that's going to be there for you and have your back."
