Iowa Gov. candidate Boulton visits Parkersburg

Iowa gubernatorial candidate and state Senator Nate Boulton stopped by Parkersburg last week to get a look at the growth of the community.

Boulton, a Democrat and Columbus Junction native, toured Parkersburg’s downtown, Legend Trail Inn and Suites and Golf Course and housing developments. He said was impressed how Parkersburg has thrived since the tornado in 2008.

“I got a sense of how the community has revitalized in the wake of a disaster,” he said. “In the end, Parkersburg is an example of how to bounce back and come back even stronger.”

Parkersburg was part of a 7-day, 26-county tour the 37-year-old candidate conducted last week. He said his goal, as a native rural Iowan, was to see rural communities first-hand and develop a sense of what questions and concerns citizens have.
