Parkersburg woman reflects on one year since cancer diagnosis

The middle names of Marc and Angie Reifenrath’s infant twins, Jack and Jorie, honor two irreplaceable people in their lives.

Jorie’s middle name, Joslynn, is for Joslynn “Josie” Mostek. Angie and Josie first became what turned out to be lifelong best friends in eighth grade after the Aplington and Parkersburg school districts merged. Josie was the surrogate mother for the twins as Angie had experienced infertility and multiple miscarriages.

Henry is Jack’s middle name, after Angie’s father, who passed away last December.

“Those middle names are two big shoes to fill,” Reifenrath said.

As the twins turn three months old, Angie had her one year anniversary of her diagnosis of uterine cancer. In recognition of her anniversary, Angie, now cancer-free, donated 10 inches of her hair Thursday to be made into wigs for cancer patients.
