Rebels rebound, take down Wolverines

GLADBROOK – When the football programs are as strong as Dike-New Hartford and Gladbrook-Reinbeck, it comes down to execution in the key moments of the game.

G-R was there again and again in the biggest moments in the second half to stifle the Wolverines in a 19-7 Rebels victory in Gladbrook last Friday night.

On paper, the Wolverine defense exerted its will on G-R's rushing attack, holding the Rebels to minus-19 rushing yards and effectively turning the Rebels into a one-dimensional offense.

G-R's big plays jumped off the stats page, though, not the least of which being four forced turnovers, including a Walker Thede pick-six with two minutes remaining in the game that all but sealed the victory for the Rebels.

"It came down to mistakes," D-NH head coach Don Betts said. "We didn't finish some drives when we had a chance to and that stuff always comes back and bites you in the rear end."
