Juanita Lorraine Sents, 91

Juanita Lorraine Sents, age 91, of Aplington, Iowa, was born the daughter of Fred and Emma (Van Horn) Kusian, on January 12, 1934, in Parkersburg, Iowa.  She was baptized and confirmed at the First Congregational Church.  Juanita graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1952.

On September 15, 1953, Juanita was united in marriage with Lester A. Sents at the Aplington Baptist Church. After their marriage, the couple made their home on Lester’s family farm.   Juanita was a homemaker and helped Lester with the farm work.   In 2005, Lester and Juanita moved into Aplington.  

Juanita was an active member of the Aplington Baptist Church where she was a part of the women’s group, and the quilting club.  Juanita and Lester were also custodians for their church.  Juanita enjoyed gardening, baking and quilting.  She especially loved spending time with her family.  

On Sunday, November 9, 2025, Juanita passed away at Maple Manor Village in Aplington, of natural causes.  Juanita is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Lester; her parents, Fred and Emma Kusian; four brothers, Duane, Luvern, Donald, and Kenneth; three sisters, Jean, Betty and Lavane.

Juanita is survived three children, Wendall (Jane) Sents of Aplington, Denise (John) Izzolena of Jasper, Indiana, and Michael (Lanette) Sents of Aplington; five grandchildren, Diane Rausch, Christopher Sents, Angie Brouwer, Stephanie Strickland, and Sean Strickland; 11 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Karen Kusian of Waukee, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Juanita were held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the Aplington Baptist Church.  Pastor Tom Detamore officiated the service.  Cami Haugstad was the organist and Rod Sents lead the congregation as they sang “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”, “In The Garden” and “Amazing Grace”.  Burial was held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Aplington with Diane (Nathan) Rausch, Christopher (Kasey) Sents and Angie (Carl) Brouwer serving as Casketbearers.

Visitation was before the service on Wednesday, at the Aplington Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  Memorials may be directed to the family. Redman Funeral & Cremation Services – Aplington Chapel was in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.redmanfuneral.com
