Sharlene Denholm, 81

Sharlene Denholm, 81, of Iowa Falls, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls with a private family burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery in Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to the Bethany Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. 



Sharlene Faye Denholm was born October 7, 1944, in Austinville, Iowa, to Richard and Marian Harken. She attended Ackley-Geneva High School through the 10th grade and later graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1962, where she was honored as homecoming queen.



In 1969, she married Erico Denholm, and together they raised three children. Throughout her life, Sharlene enjoyed a varied and fulfilling career. She worked as an office manager in a doctor’s office, owned and operated Denholm Jewelry and Hallmark stores for 20 years, served as a sales representative for ENESCO, and later worked as an administrative assistant for housing at Ellsworth Community College.



Sharlene was an active volunteer in her community. She dedicated her time to Bethany Lutheran Church, the Christian Women United Thrift Store, and quilting activities. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, baking, and working on puzzles. She was well known for sharing her baked treats with family and friends.



She is survived by her husband, Erico Denholm; her daughter, Sharon (Eric) Tullio of Charleston, South Carolina; her sons, James Denholm and Jack (Anne) Denholm, both of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and six grandchildren, Gavin Denholm, Owen Denholm, and Jess Denholm, all of Cedar Falls; Mason (Emily) Denholm of Fort Dodge and their children, Willow and Landon; Nikki (Jamie) Hollander of Charleston, South Carolina and their children, Mac and Livie; and Kristin (Dennis) Hoffer of Greenville, North Carolina and their children, Charlie and Thomas. She is also survived by two brothers, Jim Harken of Waterloo and Dick (Verlene) Harken of Ackley.



She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter-in-law Amy Denholm.
