Cuvelier, Fuller on 2A all-state boys basketball team

Aplington-Parkersburg's Carter Cuvelier and Dike-New Hartford's Cade Fuller were both named to the second team of the Class 2A all-state boys basketball team, as chosen by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association in teams released this Tuesday.

Cuvelier averaged 16.9 points and 6.1 rebounds in his senior season, adding 3.4 assists, 28 steals and 15 blocks in 21 games played for the Falcons. Cuvelier was the NICL East's Player of the Year and was also a McDonald's All-American nominee. Cuvelier was also a first-team all-state selection as a junior. The Falcons finished 15-6.

Fuller was the leading scorer on the state-qualifying D-NH team, averaging 15.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and swiping 33 steals in 23 games with the Wolverines. Fuller was a first-team NICL East selection. The Wolverines ended their season in the state quarterfinals against Van Meter.

Bettendorf's D.J. Carton and North Linn's Jake Hilmer were named Co-Mr. Basketball. This marks the first time since 1999 that two players shared Mr. Basketball honors – Sioux City West's Kirk Hinrich and Iowa Falls' Nick Collison shared the award in that year.
