New Hartford hopes to move forward with splash pad project

The City of New Hartford is currently looking for people to join a planning committee to bring a splash pad to town in the hopes of creating a fun, summertime activity for families and kids of all ages.

City Clerk Shawna Hagen says a splash pad is a great alternative for local families who don’t want to drive to either Dike, Cedar Falls or a surrounding community to go to a pool.

“A pool isn’t in the stars for us, but a splash pad would be perfect,” Hagen said. “It’s actually a bit better since it’s a watery playground. All ages will be able to cool down and enjoy it with family and friends, and it would be a perfect spot for any kind of gathering.”

Hagen says the city has been tossing around the idea of a splash pad project for years, but they’re finally ready to get the ball rolling.
