A-P football gets run game moving (PHOTOS)

PARKERSBURG – With high winds and cold temperatures bearing down on Ed Thomas Field, Alex Pollock knew Aplington-Parkersburg needed a big breakthrough in the running game.

Pollock heaped praise on the offensive line for answering the call, putting forth what he considered the group's best effort of the season to create running room for Jalen Meyer's four rushing touchdowns and a 26-7 district victory against Lake Mills in Parkersburg last Friday.

"It's a mentality," Pollock said. "We're in a must-win situation from here on out and they said, enough's enough, we're gonna run the football."

The Falcons remain in the hunt for a district title with the Week 7 win. A-P is tied with Denver for second place in the district, one game behind leader Osage with two games to play. The Falcons head to Sumner-Fredericksburg this Friday in another must-win game.

Meyer finished with four touchdowns on 36 carries for 234 yards. Sam Nolte added eight totes for 31 yards.

"It feels great to get a lot of yards and the touchdowns tonight, but all the credit goes to the O-line," Meyer said. "Those guys were some dogs tonight."
