Sewer lining project moves forward

The Parkersburg City Council last Tuesday set a public hearing for plans to line some of the town’s sanitary sewers.

City Administrator Chris Luhring said the project calls for the lining of approximately 10,000 feet of sanitary sewers. He said this project will address older pipes and pipes that experience groundwater infiltration and root growth.

He added that the city has been able to televise the sanitary sewer system over the last four years to create a coordinated plan.

“First, it gave us a baseline,” he said. “Second, it helped us find areas that needed to be lined and go after it with a big project rather than many small projects that will cost more money over time.”

The hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Oct. 2.
