D-NH’s Houts to return to Fort Dodge

OELWEIN – Dike-New Hartford’s Izzy Houts will make her third trip to the state cross country meet in Fort Dodge.

The D-NH junior was 12th in a Class 2A state-qualifying meet in Oelwein on Thursday to punch her ticket. The state takes the top 15 individuals from each 2A state-qualifying meet as individual qualifiers.

Houts’ best finish at Fort Dodge thus far in her high school career was as a freshman two years ago, finishing 60th overall in 21:48. She was 94th as a sophomore.

The Wolverine girls finished ninth in the team standings with 208 points. Elyse Folkerts was 39th in 22:55. Denver (68), Williamsburg (78) and New Hampton (115) qualified for state.

Tyler Nystel led the D-NH boys in 46th place overall in 19:07. The Wolverine boys were 13th, scoring 343 points.
