D-NH receives Code.org prize

Dike-New Hartford is one of 102 schools nationwide that have been awarded a $10,000 prize from Code.org’s CS Leaders Prize.

The prize is awarded in recognition of schools that are working hard to recover from the challenges that the education system has gone through over the past two years and support their goals to establish or expand access to computer science not only for students in their own classrooms, but also in their districts.

D-NH is one of two Iowa schools to receive this award, along with Kingsley-Pierson.

All winning schools will add a new computer science course in the 2023-2024 school year. The award is made through DonorsChoose, and the teacher or teachers at each winning school will also receive a no-cost scholarship to attend Code.org’s Professional Learning Program.

D-NH will hold an assembly on Monday, Dec. 19 at 2:45 p.m. in the high school auditorium in recognition of the prize.
