Darlene Overman

Darlene Ester Mae (Lauterbach) Overman, 88, of Nevada and formerly of Rhodes, Iowa, passed away on the evening of March 10, 2022 at the Story Medical Senior Care Center under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

Per Darlene’s wishes, a private family service will take place. She will be laid to rest at Eden Cemetery in Rhodes, Iowa. Memorials in Darlene’s name may be directed to her family for a later designation. Darlene Ester Mae Lauterbach was born on May 12, 1933 to parents Brunk and Wilhelmina “Minnie” (Berends) Lauterbach in Stout, Iowa. Darlene graduated from Dike High School. She furthered her education and attended school for nursing.

On October 13, 1952, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, John Overman. Together they raised their three children, Joyce, Kenneth and Mark.

She worked in a hospital setting as a clothier. Family was of main importance to Darlene and that’s where she spent her free time. In addition, she was a member of the Eastern Star.

Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her children, Kenneth (Lynn) Overman of Sherman, TX, and Mark (Paulette) Overman of Garland, TX; her grandchildren, Lucas (Tisha) Overman, Jon Overman, Ian Overman, Patrick (Stephanie) Overman, and Janel (Nick) Overman; and her four great-grandchildren, Drake, Raylan, Gavin and Travis.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Overman; her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Joseph Dugan; her parents, Brunk and Minnie Lauterbach; and her siblings, Irene Miller, Matilda Johnson, Virginia Miller, and sister in infancy, Margaret Louise Lauterbach.
