DeAnne “Dee” Meester, 78

DeAnne “Dee” Meester, aged 78, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Whitehouse, Texas, June 8, 2024. Born on September 13, 1945, in Waverly, the daughter of William and Minnie Alberts Mulder. She is survived by her son, Dean of Chico, CA, daughter Rebecca “Becky” of Whitehouse, TX, a grandson, Hayden Clay Holbrook of Willow Park, TX, a great-granddaughter, Elena, and many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service is planned at Veterans’ Memorial in Parkersburg, Iowa on July 12, 2024.

Dee grew up on a farm outside Shell Rock, Iowa, where she attended Elementary School. She moved to Parkersburg with her parents where she attended Middle and High School. She graduated high school in 1963. Dee attendee Gates Business College in Waterloo, Iowa. She graduated in 1965. 

Dee was married to Roger Meester in August of 1967. They divorced in 1976. They had two children.

Dee enjoyed active participation in supporting the local High School, a member of the Parkersburg Crusader Booster Club, later the AP Falcon Booster Club, active participation in the After Prom committee from 1987 to 1993. Dee enjoyed volunteering at many school functions, music and speech competitions, and tournaments such as the “Little Wrestlers.” Dee was an avid supporter of the University of Iowa Hawkeye and UNI Panther athletics. She also enjoyed watching the NFL. Dee also enjoyed playing sports. She was a member of a local bowling league for many years and also played slow pitch softball in Cedar Falls with her colleagues from Viking Pump.

Dee enjoyed travel to visit her children and friends as well as the occasional Bowl Game. In her retirement she was an active volunteer with Go Red for Women, Grey Warriors, and MercyOne.

Dee lived a full life, was dearly loved, and will be sorely missed.
