Kevin Ray Kruger, 76

Kevin Ray Kruger, age 76, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Chris and Annie (Hulsing) Kruger on March 8, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa.  Kevin graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1966. Kevin served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1969.  During this time, he worked as a mechanic and served in Viet Nam.

On September 16, 1972, Kevin was united in marriage with Shirley Diane Adelmund at the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg.  After their marriage, the couple lived in Parkersburg.  Kevin worked at Dean’s Standard as a mechanic, then at Hammer Masonry.  In 1983, Kevin became a co-owner and partner at Parkersburg Lumber Yard.

Kevin was a member of the AMVETS, Veterans’ Affairs, Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever.  He loved hunting, fishing and trapping.  Kevin and his group of friends enjoyed golfing at several different golf courses.  Kevin especially loved going fishing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their sporting events. 

On Friday, May 10, 2024, Kevin died at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, from complications of cancer.  Kevin is preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Annie Kruger and one brother-in-law, Robert Renken

Kevin is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley of Parkersburg; one son, Calley (Heather) Kruger of Parkersburg; two daughters, Kerry Olsson of Parkersburg and Katie (Ronnie) Kruger Punta Gorda, Florida; seven grandchildren, Riddick, Maddox, Kayley (Elliott), Bre’Ann, Mercedes, Jayden and Korbin; two great grandchildren, Cassius and Hudson; one sister, Marcia Renken; and his close friend, Bill Hammer.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the Redman Funeral & Cremation Services – Parkersburg Funeral Home.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.redmanfuneral.com
