APLINGTON – Aplington-Parkersburg FFA members shared their experiences at the National FFA Convention last month as part of the A-P school board’s regular meeting at the Aplington elementary/middle school on Monday, Nov. 21.

Cora Berends, Savannah Buss, Hannah Butjer, Madison Cooley, Avery Freund, Isaac Foxen, Rowdy Groen, Lexi Hauser, Collin Koop, Mitchell Wyatt and Kellen Reints shared a powerpoint presentation and spoke on the various activities.

Also in attendance was Geoff Tessau with the Iowa Association of School Boards to share information about services that the IASB can provide to support any future district facility improvement plans.

The board also approved two applications to the School Budget Review Committee:

- $1,276.32 for special education administrative costs associated with Lied Center Consortium programs for the 2023-24 school year;

- $9,395.00 for open enrollment out of the district for the 2022-23 school year.

The board also approved their 2021-22 certified annual report earlier in the night, and held their organizational meeting, including electing Jill Kalkwarf as board president and Amy Truax as vice president. Darla Choate and Julie Merfeld were retained as board secretary and district business manager for the 2022-23 school years.

In other business, the board:

- Approved the resignation of Kelly Schmidt, high school associate;

- Approved a contract for Calley Kruger, assistant girls/boys wrestling coach;

- Approved volunteer agreements with Speed Limburg, girls basketball; Jason Berkey, boys basketball.

The next regular meeting will be back in Parkersburg at the high school on Monday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m.
