The Aplington-Parkersburg girls basketball team picked up a significant NICL East victory with a 52-44 win against 2A No. 14 Jesup on Friday.

The unranked Falcons handed the J-Hawks what was, at the time, only Jesup’s third loss of the season.

The win also extended A-P’s winning streak to four games, improving to 10-4 overall and 7-4 in the NICL East. The Falcons pulled within a game of the J-Hawks in second in the division standings, while Dike-New Hartford remained well ahead of the field at 12-0.

Next up for the Falcons are road games at Sumner-Fredericksburg on Tuesday, at 2A No. 7 Grundy Center on Thursday and wrapping up the week at Wapsie Valley on Friday.
