Parker Place celebrates 10 years in Parkersburg

Parker Place should be celebrating its 11th anniversary this summer, but the catastrophic tornado of 2008 leveled the construction site about a month before its scheduled completion and forced the builders to start over.

Nonetheless, residents and administrators at the assisted living community would agree that the finished product has been worth the wait.

The facility celebrated its 10th anniversary last week during Parkersburg Fun Days, and the Tank Anthony Band, a popular country group from Iowa Falls, played a show on the front lawn open to both residents and the public on Wednesday night. Mikayla Fisher, the life enrichment coordinator at Parker Place, got to watch her brother DJ up on the stage.

“(Community Relations Coordinator) Briget (Meyer) and I put a lot of work into that, so seeing it come to life was awesome,” Fisher said. “The residents really enjoyed it. They’re still talking about it today.”
