Parkersburg Tire celebrates 10 years in business

Dave Schneiderman took a risk when he opened his tire and auto repair shop just over a decade ago.

“We started from scratch. I had my daughters up here, and they shoveled their first dirt (when we built the facility),” he said. “It was a chance for me to give back to the community.”

He’d spent over 20 years working at a factory in Eldora, and the EF-5 tornado of 2008 had left much of Parkersburg—where he’s lived his entire life—decimated. But he saw an opportunity, and as Parkersburg Tire prepares to host a 10th-anniversary open house on Saturday, October 12, he certainly feels that he made the right decision in retrospect.

In its first decade, the business has donated over $20,000 to Aplington-Parkersburg and community organizations, and the customers have been faithful throughout the journey. Schneiderman now has three daughters of his own and serves on the A-P school board.

He got his first experience working on cars as a youngster while his father traveled and raced them, and he rebuilt a 1967 Chevy pickup from the ground up in high school.
