Beaver Meadows Golf Course hosted the first annual Post 285 American Legion Golf Tournament in Parkersburg on Oct. 1.

The event started off with a bang as members of the Iowa Light Artillery fired their cannon to kick off the event on a beautiful fall day.

The golf course was decorated in American patronage. The golf pins were American flags and the long driveway coming in was lined with American flags.

Over 64 golfers participated in the four person best shot. Jodi Dennis hit a hole-in-one on No. 8.

Post 285 plans on another tournament next year and thanks the sponsors and donors that made the day special for the event winners, and thanks Parkersburg for allowing Post 285 to serve the city. Those interested are encouraged to become a member of Post 285 through the American Legion, Sons of American Legion or the Women’s Auxiliary.
