A-P's Thomas, Hempen earn unanimous Central honors

Aplington-Parkersburg’s Gavin Thomas and Garrett Hempen earned unanimous first-team status on the All-NICL Central boys basketball teams released last week.

Thomas, a junior, averaged 19.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in Central play this season. Hempen scored 21.3 points with 2.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game in his senior campaign.

D-NH senior Benton Bixby was also a unanimous first-teamer. Bixby averaged 17.5 points and 7 rebounds per Central game for the Wolverines.

A-P senior Martez Wiggley joins his Falcon teammates on the NICL Central first team.

Second-teamers included D-NH’s Colin Meester and Braxten Johnson, unanimously; and A-P junior Nick Neuroth.

Honorable mention went to A-P junior Will Hodges and D-NH sophomore Devon Lotts.

Camden Davis of Hudson was named Central Player of the Year. Davis averaged 21.8 points, 11.6 repunds and 2.4 assists per game in Central play for the Pirates.
