Softball roundup: Denver escapes A-P late

DENVER – After Aplington-Parkersburg softball came back from a multi-run deficit, Denver was able to score one run in the bottom of the seventh to win 6-5 at the Denver Athletic Complex on Thursday, May 26.

The Falcons fell to 0-2 after a 13-0 loss to Grundy Center last Monday, May 23.

Statistics for the Denver game were not available when this issue went to press.

In the game with Grundy Center, Ada Switzer had the only hit off Grundy Center's ace pitcher Emma Beck, who struck out 17 batters with two walks in the shutout. Switzer and Avery Freund drew the walks for the Falcons.

 

D-NH FALLS TO WAPSIE: Wapsie Valley defeated D-NH 5-4 in Fairbank on May 23.

The teams were tied at 4-all after three innings and Wapsie Valley broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth and held on for the win.
