DIKE – The Dike-New Hartford boys basketball team is building trust in one another.
The Wolverines are not short on returning experience, but those particular returners working in tandem allowed D-NH to topple previously-undefeated Aplington-Parkersburg, 81-72, in Dike on Friday, a battle between two teams ranked among the top 10 in the state in Class 2A.
Dane Fuller poured in 29 points on 11-of-15 shooting, including 4-of-7 from the 3-point line. Zak Wauters and Landen Sullivan added 18 points each.
Dike-New Hartford junior Dane Fuller was selected to the third team of the Class 2A all-state boys basketball teams released by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association on Tuesday.
Fuller averaged 18.1 points for the Wolverines, including shooting 37-of-110 (33.6 percent) from three-point range. Fuller added 55 total assists, 35 steals and 70 rebounds in 23 games this season.
The Wolverines finished the season 18-5 overall, falling in the district final to North Linn. The Lynx went on to be state runners-up in 2A.
